Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions, we have answers! If you have a question that isn’t listed below, please shoot us an email and we’ll add it to the list.
What is yoga like at GROW?
Our style is a blend of many disciplines and experiences and is taught for the class that is present. The intention is to connect with your soul and, through movement, heal. Joy and happiness are ever present. With the exception of power and yin, all classes are heated to 80-85 F.
Do I need to bring a mat?
Nope! GROW has mats to loan, but it is more hygienic & a solid investment in your practice to use your own.
What level are your classes?
Our classes are open to all levels of experience—beginners, advanced, you name it. Come to an All Levels class, unroll your mat, and do your best. (There’s a reason why we call yoga a “practice.”)
I'm new to yoga. What should I know?
Just showing up is often the hardest part. Don’t worry about being new—everyone started that way! Other bits and bolts: try to arrive at least ten minutes early so you can not only get a good parking space, but also have some time to settle down on your mat. Use the props — blocks, blankets, and straps are your friend! And just have fun!
I'm pregnant. Can I still take classes?
Of course! Our classes are suitable for pregnancy, with the exception of Core Yoga and Core Vinyasa Flow (as they both do a lot of deep core work). Be sure to let the teacher know you’re pregnant prior to the start of class so she can suggest modifications to you, and as always, please discuss exercising and physical activity with your physician/obstetrician prior to attending class. We also have teachers who can do private yoga sessions focused on your specific needs during pregnancy.
When is the studio open?
The studio is always open, but teachers are only present 30 minutes before and after classes.
Do I need to sign up in advance?
Yes, if you would like to reserve your space—otherwise, classes and workshops operate on a first come/first served, drop-in basis. If you sign up and don’t show, you get charged—so come!
I'm running late for class. What should I do?
We know life happens — if you are coming to class late please just enter quietly.
Please note: If you are coming to an 8am class, we ask that you arrive a few minutes prior to class beginning. We share a building with Chesapeake’s Bounty and our doors are locked when we are outside of the Bounty’s business hours (9:30am to 7:30pm.)
Should I take off my shoes?
Yes! We ask that you remove your shoes prior to entering the yoga studio. We have a shoe rack where they can be stored outside of the room, as well as small lockers where they can be stored during class, if you would prefer. We also recommend removing your socks to create ease while in standing postures.
Do you offer private classes?
Yes, we offer private yoga sessions for both new students testing the waters out and current students who want to go deeper into their practice. Each session includes a tailored blend of postures, movement and meditation designed with your needs in mind. Please email email@example.com if you’d like to schedule a private class.
